I just found out about an Adirondack family in Long Lake who offers float plane rides to the public at reasonable rates. This summer I plan to take the family there to get a taste of what it is like. Here's a video clip of it that someone took. Helm's Aero Service

Looks like fun... I can see you giving float plan rides on weekend to fund your flying habit!
